Annual Benefit

There was an annual Benefit each year since the formation of the Foundation, with each year featuring a different and unique theme. Silent and live auctions held at these Benefits helped raise funds for the Foundation.

Champions for Child Safety Gala

In the Fall of 2004, Roger Haughton and our other friends at The PMI Group encouraged us to expand our fundraising activities to include an event that would attract significant support from corporations and foundations. On April 7, 2005, we held the first Champions for Child Safety Gala at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco. Nearly 350 people attended the Gala, and more significantly, we received corporate and foundation sponsorships totalling nearly $248,000! Had The Danny Foundation continued it's operations, the funds raised through the Champions Gala would have been instrumental to our furutre growth.

Bocce Ball Tournaments

In 2002, Board Members Nikki McKennedy and Tracey Hessel organized this fun event, which was also held in the summer of 2003 and 2004.

Crab Feed

An Annual Crab Feed, created by charter Board Members Vince and Midge DiMaggio in March 1993, was held annually to the delight of “sold out” crowds of many friends and supporters of the Foundation.

Crib Safety Summit

Staff members and their local hiker friends decided to turn their yearly mountain climbing adventure into something more. They solicited donations and pledges to climb to the summits of mountains in Northern California. The purpose of these events was to raise funds for Project Safe Crib.

Golf Tournament

The popular Pete’s for Danny Golf Tournament completed its 13th annual “sold out” tourney in June 2005. Original Hosts, Franklin and Donna Kistner, created the tournament in July 1993 and, after their retirement in 2004, the legacy was continued by the new owners of Pete’s Brass Rail and Car Wash, Dave and Susie Homer in 2005.

The Human Race

The Human Race was an annual event coordinated by various board members and staff of The Danny Foundation, in which the Foundation and many volunteers and supporters participated by soliciting pledges, and walking numerous times around Lafayette Reservoir. This fun event enabled the foundation to distribute safety information, while enjoying camardarie and raising funds.

The Golden Hills 60K Trail Relay and Ultra Run

The Danny Trail Relay and Ultra Run Marathon was organized by supporter Brian Moyer in 1990-91 and was instrumental in garnering attention to The Danny Foundation and its’ mission, while raising funds thru pledges based on participant’s performance. The Marathons were held in 1990 and 1991.
